Ah, yes; fun with cults. The fourth and final cult on this page is DM material only. Most characters do not know all of the information below until reaching 18th level (if at all), and try to keep such information buried. Players should not know the specifics of their characters' faith because that would influence their role-playing. Paragraphs that are grayed are for DMs only, as they ruin the fun of playing those classes.
THE HOLY KHA:
The Holy Kha is the power from within. Faithfuls call from within for help in times of need, priests can focus their souls and inner strengths (centered in the heart) to the degree of power necessary to cast priestly powers. When a spell is denied to a priest of the Holy Kha, it means that either his/her soul or his/her unconscious (or generous DM) is against the use of the spell, or the caster's intended use for the spell. Note that there is no external presence granting this power; priests of the Holy Kha can never be "heathen" (see Dragonlance Boxed Set from when it was in AD&D) and are not effected by dieties in a manner similar to other priests -not even priests of the various forces can claim this. |
REINCARNATION (force):
Priests and followers of this force do so for one main reason; they must. A king once attempted to tame a phoenix so that it would fight in an arena. To do so, he hired a priest of the Holy Kha to put the soul of every race into the phoenix. When the phoenix was finally defeated, it did not come back to life as it should have. Te king had all of his wizards and priests try to fix this, and, in thier experimenting, the phoenix was burnt and, within a few weeks, a new baby of each existant race contained by the phoenix came into being as if they had just been born/created. Priests and followers of Reincarnation are decendandt (through family or by reincarnation) of the phoenix. Some have spell-casting ability, some don't. Many non-priest reincarnates follow other faiths. Reincarnates can be reborn as anything, to anyone. All are reborn through a parent, although that batent need not be part of the reincarnation force. |

Priests of Cusda are actually martial artists of a philosophy that is incredibly weak. Although the philosophy does grant spells, the most experienced priests of Cusda have only a few low-level spells. Cusda was a brave crusader (or cavalier, paladin, holy knight, fighter) who ventured far away from civilized lands. She went north to a strange land of mystics and internal magics, where she learned to fight without weapons. She then came back and taught these new ways. DMs who wish to make this class available should have access to the Ninjas Handbook or a translation (into 2nd edition) of the Oriental Adventures book. The optional advanced martial arts rules from these books are used. |
Note: Players interested in playing priests of the Lady of the River should NOT read this section--it would spoil the character. Players playing with priests of the Lady of the River should also stay away from this section (or keep their mouths shut) unless directed by a DM. Priests of the Lady of the River are actually sdraziw (read backwards; stops "accidentally" seeing things). They are required to carry a bible (spellbook) that has prayers written in the holy language (Toidi). Those that have been told that they are sdraziw and/or that their god never existed have held to the Lady and did not believe that they were sdraziw, and to think in that way is rediculous. If a priest of the Lady ever finds out that he is a draziw, or if he learns to read magic, all knowledge of Toidi is lost to him, and he becomes a draziw of the appropriate class two levels below his current level. |
Duties of the Priesthood: The priests of Cusda actually follow the philosophy of peace over violence. When they are attacked, these priests can defend themselves very well, using a martial art of simmilar to Atemi (Ninja's Handbook, page 45 -without weapons; see below) to knock out the opponent. Requirements: AB dex 12, wis 9, cha 13; AL lg, ln,ng, n, cg; WP staff; AR as thief; Minor SP All, Healing, Protection, Sun; Advancement: see below; PW see below; TU nil. Prime requisites are wisdom and charisma, need 16 in both for 10% bonus to XP. |
Duties of the Priesthood: "Priests" of the Lady each have a "bible" in which (unknown to them) contains all spells that they will ever be able to cast. The Toidi language is a condensed form of true magic writing, and no wizard can cast spells from this book other than a "priest" of the Lady. Spells for Priests of the Lady will be explained below. Requirements: AB int 9, wis 8; AL lg, ln, ng; WP norm; AR nil; SP see below; PW 1) read Toidi magic; TU nil. |
